A design retreat in the heart of Val Formica

This time, Gruppo 5 brings design to high altitude, at 1,700 meters above sea level, in a place where nature reigns supreme: in the evocative backdrop of Val Formica, on the Asiago Plateau. The iconic Rifugio Val Formica, a landmark for all nature lovers visiting the mountain valley, is reinterpreted with a modern touch featuring rooms that blend alpine style with contemporary furnishings.

“The goal of the interior project,” explains architect Giovanni Smiderle, “was to revive and enhance the structure’s history through the use of contemporary furnishings and materials.”

Starting from this premise, we designed and are currently completing 11 rooms of various types, fully customized in furnishings and accessories. Upholstery, drapes, lighting fixtures, wallpapers: every detail was studied with extreme care thanks to close dialogue with the client, as well as meticulous management of the construction phase. Wood is the true protagonist of all spaces, celebrating the surrounding nature and territory with its colors and grain. The rooms are crafted in brushed and aged solid fir, which paired with the original stone walls creates a unique and evocative tactile contrast. To add a further touch of personality to the spaces, a warm-toned, floral-themed wallpaper was chosen, which alongside the wood infuses guests with a warm, intimate atmosphere of relaxation. The upholstery for beds, headboards, sofas, and seating is all in natural leather, completing the elegant and refined look of these rooms. Rifugio Val Formica is the ideal accommodation to fully enjoy the peace and enchanted landscape of the Plateau. The furnishings were customized and bespoke designed by Gruppo 5.
